Abstract

With the growth of distance learning (ODL), the online discussion forums are presented as an important tool in the teaching-learning process. However, when the discussion in the forums grow it becomes difficult for teachers/tutors follow the discussions and consequently assessing the contributions of students. Thus, this paper evaluates an automatic evaluation model of posts in an educational forum conducted in Portuguese by 4 classifiers. The results demonstrate the good performance of the multilayer perceptron (MLP) for the classification of posts and suggests the possibility of the evaluated model be used for educational purposes.
